Description

Snider Enfield Mark III rifle in very good condition. The Mark III rifles were produced new, rather than being converted from earlier muzzleloaders, and are thus both stronger and possess some nice improvements. Condition is very nice. Metal surfaces show pantina but no pitting or rusting, with the receiver retaining much of its attractive original blue. Wood is overall very good, with intact finish and a very strong original cartouche on the right stock; the only major flaw is a missing chunk right before the buttplate on the bottom of the stock. All expected poofs, acceptance markings, and inspection marks are present. An original sling is included. The word "Thyde" is carved into the brass of the buttplate - a soldier's name? A place? Whatever the case, it's great fodder for a story to impress your buddies.
